Selected opportunity: Hybrid batteries manufacturing
Q1. Explain why this opportunity was selected, and how it is anticipated to benefit the organization.
The opportunity was selected because it is unique and would help the Tesla Inc. to become competitive in unique way. According to Tesla’s case study, the company has for long suffered inadequate supply of batteries that works for hybrid vehicles that the company relies on huge margin.
The inadequate availability of the batteries has on many occasions delayed the production process because the manufactured products can be tested only after the batteries have been fixed.
According to Coffin, D., & Horowitz, J. (2018). “After an extensive research, there is no competition in the hybrid vehicle batteries manufacturing and the few companies manufacturing the product have an extremely high demand to the point they can only supply a few to Tesla.”
This is to mean if the company targets in meeting this unmet opportunity, it would first meet its most important need which would affect production, ensure that batteries are of highest quality, and serve other clients. It would be an opportunity that would benefit the company in different ways especially boosting the company to be in a position to approach other opportunities as the company will acquire what is needed to face its threats.

Q3. Explain why these objectives are appropriate for the project
The three objectives are appropriate for the project because they will help the business meet the desired purpose of the project. According to Perkins, G., & Murmann, J. P. (2018). “Tesla’s trajectory, from start-up on the brink of bankruptcy to a company mass-producing electric vehicles within 5 years, raises important questions about the future of the global automobile sector.”
The objectives demand that the plant is set up in a strategic location, all measures and preparations are put in place, and production is done consistently and effectively. This is to mean that with the project, Tesla will have explored an available and potential opportunity and maximized its profit margins.
The objectives are also appropriate for the project because they will help the business eliminate one of its weaknesses which is failing to meet market demand which has been caused by delay in the manufacturing process.
Q4. Develop at least 2 metrics to evaluate achievement of each of the project objectives. Provide a 1-page explanation for why these are appropriate metrics for each of the objectives.
Objective 1 achievement metrics are; successful completion of the manufacturing plant within the stipulated time and having a team of experts ready to start working. These two metrics are appropriate for objective one because the objective demands that within one year since the start of the project, the plant would be set up and in an operational state. Having successful handled all the responsibilities under objectives one and having the right team to start working simply means that the first objective has been achieved successfully. The reason is that the company is in a state where the new products can start being designed thereby making the project progressive as per the schedule.
Objective 2 achievement metrics are; coming up with a unique and quality design within two weeks and assembling all the raw materials successfully leading to the obtainment of a desirable end result. It is a fact that first the design must be created that would be used to determine how the raw materials would be used in other stages of development until the final results are obtained.
Objective 3 achievements metrics include; production of the first over 100 hybrid batteries within one week since the start of manufacturing and secondly, manufacturing over 1000 batteries in two months. This is an appropriate metric because the first batteries would be used as pilot batteries before other tasks like marketing and contracting other clients can be done. This is to mean that before the company would manufacture a high number of hybrid batteries, it would be sure that the batteries are of quality and that they meet the current hybrid batteries market demand.

(2015). “Battery-powered electric vehicles have the possibility to be one of the most disruptive technologies of the early 21st century and can potentially alter two of the largest and most influential industries of the world economy: automobile and petroleum. While electric vehicles are not a perfect solution, they do offer some answers to current concerns in society.
