Watch a Western or a Musical film made in the last 30 years. It cannot be from the genre that your favorite movie is from (the film you told us was your favorite in week one).
What does it have in common with the films of that genre in the week Four content? How is the film different?
How does Cinematography or Special Effects play a part in the film you watched? Identify at least three places that one of these stood out in the film.
Respond to at least one of your classmates.
CLASSMATE 1:
I reviewed the original Aladdin and the live action movie Aladdin. I see the difference from an animated movie and the live action movie as far as story and the difference between animation and CG animation of these two movies, but as far as story goes they pay off with musicals that are identical to each other. Honestly the animation still over powers the attempt of the live action as far as the singing, comedy, and the attempt accomplish all that ridicolousness of the cartoon, but it made sense for a movie of its kind with live action not able to create what the animation attempted. Wasn’t bad, but just don’t have that same flair as the animation.
As far as Disney animated films always are attributed to animation and musicals and once put into live action those elements are to be protrayed as such because to be honest the animations of Disney movies far going to exceed the live action movies not only through music, but as far as what can be realistic (and Will Smith as I love as an Actor, but he can not replace Robin Williams character as Genie it just can’t happen) it made a good movie as far as what we all grew up upon what Disney movies are best known for musicals into stories alot of Disney movies a lot of these movies value as musicals starting form 1941 with Dumbo and the songs are memorable, but the way they used CG in the live action Aladdin movie was spot to as realistic as it can be and also it made use of what can be seen in a movie with the Genie played by Will Smith, it didn’t take as much chances as it could with the original animated movie, but took as much as it can and did what it can with what it could (not accurate). I enjoy both movies as they are, but the animated as mentioned will always be favorite because I grew up on the animated, but the elements of the special effects do make it work for a movie like Aladdin which was fantastical movie if given a live action movie would have to rely on heavy CG to recreate what the animation accomplished.
