1. The scientific method is a way of collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data, weather qualitative or quantitative (Myers, & Hansen, (2012). and discerning weather the information supports a theory or refutes it (Myers, & Hansen, (2012). This is a similar process to day to day decision making for example product purchasing, you see a product advertised that says that it is healthier than the other food products on the market, you go to the store, compare ingredients on a similar product and additives and discern weather the claim of healthier is accurate before purchasing the item or refuting the claim and buying something else. The scientific method is superior in the way that it is the facts that lead to a decision and not an emotional response. One way that the scientific method may be inferior is that it does not look at emotional factors, for instance ,using the same scenario regarding health foods, lets say that the scientific method looking at only the data agreed that the product was healthier, it supports the theory, however the product tastes like pencil shavings and healthy or not no one wants to buy it due to the negative emotional response when attempting to eat it. I use this example because i have, in the past attempted to get food items on the basis of the healthy ingredients and data alone and discovered that while the data supported health, the flavor supported not being eaten, i suppose that there could be a variable added to this scenario, however the flavor bias rendered the science useless for me in this instance.

2. The Scientific method is used to conduct research. This method allows for scientist to make observations, gather data, form theories, and test their theories (“The Scientific Method”, 2020). This method uses many techniques that are more inferior than simply making decisions. For psychologist, they are able to make observations that describe and measure behavior. Then, researchers are able to make a theory that may explain the behavior and then make a hypothesis that can test their predictions. Types of tests that can be used may include a Case Study, a Survey, or an Experiment. This shows us that it takes time and effort to reach a conclusion/ decision. This method does not necessary mean it can blind people from gathering and interpreting data. There are many ways that people can come up with conclusions such as simply having evidence. Evidence can be key and it won’t always take a lot of work such as observing and making theories because the answer can be clear. For example, if I began to cry, someone may begin to make assumptions as to why I am crying. They may make observations based on how my day went or may ask questions like asking if I am in physical pain. They may observe that I am taking Advil and that I applied icy hot on my back. They then theorize that it may be because I have some type of back pain that is severe and unbearable and is the reason why I began to cry. These observations and data gathering is definitely one way to go about for reaching a decision but if someone were to simply ask, they may find out that I was crying because my dog ran away. Using the scientific method is simply a way that helps researchers find new information.

3. The scientific method is a process of evaluating information. The information that is to be processed can be qualitative or quantitative. The scientific methods require that the observer try to figure out something. The data must be collected, regardless of the source of the collection (Myers & Hansen 2012). After the data is collected, the information needs to be evaluated. One of the complications with scientific research is the need to be able to reproduce results. Similarly the way that people evaluate life decisions is much like the way scientific research occurs. People observe things in life and then evaluate the outcome. An example is how a child would learn that having a tantrum in a store would not get them the toy that they wanted (Myers & Hansen, 2012). The examples are endless in many different theories that have demonstrated this. People have shown how their actions can be influenced by thinking much like the result of scientific methods through daily activities and behaviors. People observe a situation, develop an opinion and then choose to develop a conclusion. The scientific method is a bit more valuable than the common sense of psychology that can interfere with the ability to remove bias and passing judgment or inferences when making scientific observations. What are your thoughts on the scientific method? Where do you feel it falls short in terms of research development?

4. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I wanted to stay on task and become more connected to the class material just to remain updated. I think your topic can set the tone for behavior in its own view, but you I do believe that you do have a great topic. How do you suppose you would begin research of your topic? And what step would you take first to begin your research? I intend to start by utilizing observation skills to find truth to be viable of my findings; then question the answer that I find to further my research. collect from the data that I find and then male a conclusion (Cherry, 2019). I believe that your topic will make for a very good research experience; as your topic from reading it seems like it would have something to do with behavior and can be utilized both  scientific method or the use of psychological commonsense in your research. I think that utilizing them both with examples encourages success in your topic. Best wishes.. 

5. While we are discussing scientific methods and a host of other aspects; behavior is one aspect spoken amid the topics, I would like to discuss behavior; why do people do the things that they do? Which is why I chose to study psychology. I believe that my topic will add to the current research because the scientific method can help create a strong research data that would conclude viable information through steps of questions, collected data, and confirming a firm conclusion. Per Cherry (2019), the scientific method is a set of principles and procedures that are used by researchers to develop questions, collect data, and reach conclusions. I would intend to accomplish research through these steps. Hence, we do observation to find truth to be viable of our findings. Questions strengthens the collecting of data and the argument can be confirmed in the conclusion (Cherry, 2019). Since these steps must be taken into consideration to create a strong theory or thesis, I would rely on scientific methods to encourage a strong hypothesis making for all information to be concise.

The scientific method is a method used to conduct research by evaluating information gathered. Researchers chose a topic to observe, form a hypothesis, gather data, and test their hypothesis to produce results. The fact that data must be collected, regardless of the source of the collection, tells us that anything can be tested thru the scientific method (Myers & Hansen 2012). Everyday decision making may not have an elaborate process like the scientific method does but it does have somewhat the same process. Decisions are made based on gathered information stored to help evaluate what the best results would be also compared to the hypothesis. I think the scientific method is superior because researchers take the time to complete the process methodically. Compared to everyday decision making may be more implosive. I don’t think the scientific method blinds us into thinking it is the only way to father and interpret data because just like everyday decision making there is also information that is gathered and interpreted daily unconsciously.
