The Isms:
A collective derogatory term to lump together the radical social reform movements of the day
(such as slavery abolitionism, feminism, alcohol prohibitionism, pacifism, early socialism, etc.)
and various spiritual or religious movements considered non-mainstream by the standards of the
time (such as Transcendentalism, spiritualism, Mormonism, the Oneida movement often accused
of “free love”, etc.). Groups or classes of individuals are also often discussed in the context of a
digital divide include, but are not limited to:

The gap between those with regular, effective access to Digital and information technology, and
those without this access. It encompasses both physical access to technology hardware and, more
broadly, skills and resources which allow for its use. With the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak, this
phrase was used countless times – especially in grades K-12 and it’s impact on learning let alone
the global population and the workforce/worker skills showcased in these articles.
