Developing Organizational Policies and Practices

Healthcare organizations and facilities require to enforce practices and policies that assist them in obtaining their goals and targets. Although, there are some stressors or issues in the healthcare organization that hinders the obtainment of these set targets and goals. The primary goal and target of all health care organizations are to provide the best health care while improving the patients’ outcomes. These issues or stressors make it hard for healthcare facilities to obtain that. For that reason, it is vital for health care facilities to set practices and policies that help to counter these health care stressors and issues. One of the most usual health care issues or stressors in many healthcare facilities is technological disruption. One of the main issues that is affecting most of the healthcare facilities is integration of technology. The healthcare facilities has executed technology, and the technology concentrates on developing system that is reliable that emphasizes on a level of management that is strong.

Some of the healthcare facilities has been engaged in transforming quality of healthcare by the use of integration of technology all around various departments. The healthcare organizations have concentrated on protecting the data for their patients adequately, that emphasizes on level of engagement that is solid within their organizations. The information of the patient is very sensitive and for that reason the cyber attackers highly targets them. The use of technology has helped in easily retrieving the information of the patients and also it reduces hospital errors, that can lead to the data loss of the patients. Every staff in the healthcare organizations who provide care to the patients has been provided training program to enhance their skills and knowledge of electronic health records which also helps them to use the latest technology. (Peachyessay, 2019). Also, the healthcare organizations take up technology by monitoring the care quality around the facility. The incorporation of a system means that better decision-making needs a systematic process that offers a distinctive prominence on vital processes that define change. It is not difficult determining care provision oversight , which plays a core role in enhancing the care quality since it is easy to monitor.

Competing needs impacting technological disruption.

The two competing needs impacting the technological disruption in an organization includes the need to have a better diagnosis of the patients with artificial intelligence. Technologies such as artificial intelligence can solve the issue of misdiagnosis and also making the workflows of the facility more efficient. Another need is safety for the patients (Peachyessay, 2019). The technological disruption helps in better workflow, enhanced efficiency, and saves lives in the long run. However, there are some severe issues for high technology healthcare. The great challenge is cybersecurity. This is specifically vital in the case of medical IoT devices. The devices that are connected have a bad reputation for security and good rationales. In most hospitals, there have been diagnostic errors which is a diagnosis that is missed, wrong or delayed, as discovered by some ensuing conclusive finding or test. Technological disruption by integrating new technology like the use of artificial intelligence will help to improve the issue of diagnostic error. Diagnostic error is one of the crucial safety issues today in healthcare and inflicts the most harm.

Also, technological disruption can be done to provide patient safety. The innovation of new technologies in healthcare facilities will help improve the safety of the patient. There are different issues that contradict patients’ safety, such as cyber insecurity, where the attackers can steal the patient’s data to help them perform malicious acts. The innovation of new technologies in the hospital will improve the patient’s safety by automating tasks, introducing medication alerts, consultation reports, and improved diagnostic, facilitating data sharing, intercepting potential errors, improving clinical decision-making, and reducing variation in practice.

Inventing in new technologies may help in the healthcare facilities to provide patients with patient-centered care through encouraging communication between the health providers and the clients via online portals, emails and text messages. It also increases access to data like online medical records, which can enhance patient convenience and self-monitoring. One of the policies that can influence technological disruption is where all the care providers must follow the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Privacy Rule, a federal privacy law that sets a baseline of protection for specific individually identifiable health information. (Lisa Hedges, 2019) There are new technologies such as electronic health records, which protect the patient information by coding the data in a way that can only be decrypted by authorized user’s ad programs in possession of the access code; new technologies can make transferring the information of patient safer.

This patient privacy policy can influence the innovation of new technologies. This is to ensure that patient’s data electronically is well protected from cybercriminals who use patient data for malicious acts. Patient privacy is a big deal. With the use of new technologies like electronic health records, data can be encrypted. Ciphering information of a patient can go a mini way in assisting protect any sticky notes or dull passwords stuck to monitors of a computer. By coding data that can only be decrypted by the authorized users in possession of access code, the new technologies can make transferring patient information safer. Also, encryption can reduce damage in the case of patient data is stolen. It can also allow for securing data within the office when paired with role-based access control, so only staff members with clearance can see the information that is decrypted.

The policy of patient information privacy protection encourages the patient’s data to be protected from any unauthorized individual who can access it. It is ethical to ensure that someone’s information that the facility has is protected from any person who is not allowed to access the information. This is so much ethical to protect the patient data. In health care organizations, patient data should be kept confidential in a professional relationship. Inappropriate disclosure of that data may threaten the patient’s human dignity, reputation, and opportunities. One of the strengths of this policy is that all patient’s data will be protected. Another strength is that patients will feel confident with the healthcare organization as they know their information will be protected. Currently, there are no identified ethical issues with the policy provided above requiring hospitals to safeguard the information of the patients.

There should be a stricter policy that should be executed when the hospitals data, patient information and workers data when the information technology is executed. Morally, hospitals are required to follow the privacy code and make sure that there is no any person whose right is breached even when the information technology system is executed. There should be stringent laws that concerns the contact and personal information that can There is a need to apply more stringent laws concerning personal and contact data that could reveal any information and the patient’s identity. Therefore, the policy must take care of privacy and security of patient’s data.
