The British Association of Applied Linguistics (BAAL) was established in 1967. Overall, the focus is on how language and texts achieve their meanings and how these meanings are received, and the implications of such work for EFL teaching (and translation) are examined. The MA thus provides a thorough grounding in the core areas of ELT methodology, while allowing students to develop their own interests through a wide range of optional modules and in the dissertation.
