The research question asks among adult inpatients 19 years and older admitted to the non-ICU, what are the average number of days of telemetry utilization of patients who meet American Heart Association (AHA) criteria compared to patients on telemetry who do not meet AHA guideline-directed criteria.
In consideration of this question, the independent variable is telemetry utilization and the dependent variable is patients on telemetry.
Identify the level of measurement of both the independent and dependent variables. Provide a brief rationale for your classification of each variable.
Data collection, interpretation, and presentation all include the use of a measurement scale. Trying to determine the level of measurement is posing a challenge for me with my research question. I believe since my methodology will be chart reviews, a ratio level of measurement will be appropriate for both the independent and dependent variables.

When analyzing information from a quantitative study, we are often dealing with numbers; therefore, it is important to begin with an understanding of the source of the numbers.
Although variables can be defined or grouped in various ways, they must be defined according to the level of measurement (Mishra et al., 2018). As one progresses through the levels of measurement from nominal to ratio variables, more information is available about the study participant. The amount of information that a variable provides will become important in the analysis stage because the information is lost when variables are reduced or aggregated.

The most important benefit of my statistical analysis would be the accuracy with which I interpret the data. The greatest obstacle, on the other hand, would clearly be my lack of experience as a data analyst. I understand the importance of evaluating large amounts of data in terms of statistical precision, dimension reduction, and variable selection. I need new mathematical thinking as well as computational assistance (Mishra et al., 2018).
