Reflection: Parents social media habits are teaching children the wrong lessons.

Currently millions of Americans share content, including pictures and videos of life events and pivotal moments with their social media followers daily. However, shared content does not require the consent of the individuals pictured. Many people would disapprove of the pictures posted due to various reasons. Author Stacy Steinberg’s article “Parents social media habits are teaching children the wrong lessons” talks about how’s she views parent oversharing of their children’s personal life, and how that can not only be unwanted by children but embarrassing.

Therefore, its best to always consult with your tween/teen, family and friends before you post pictures of them. For their safety and mental health wellbeing. I have no plans at all to post many pictures of my baby. First and foremost, I don’t feel like it’s safe. People you don’t know have access to your child’s photos that they can use how every they feel fit. Overall, I feel like as a teenager you don’t really want to have pictures on social media that you don’t approve of.
