Impact of rapid environmental changes on organizations

Environmental change is the main part of many management concepts dealing with a range of issues and processes, including company survival, competitiveness, revolution, and executive turnover. In spite of this fact, very little effort has been put in understanding and classifying environmental changes. Many organizations use a variety of plans to integrate their roles and activities. Plans are applied and executed so as to fit in the firm with its external environment. Hence it is very important that the structure of the firm must align with external conditions. The main problem is that the environment always constantly changes and the organizations has little control over the changes. Approach and structure must be flexible to adapt and adjust to changes in the environment. To regulate the proper strategic response to changes in the environment, administrators must be able to understand the impact of the changes (Huber & Glick, 1995).

Technology, policies, laws and regulations, politics and worldwide conditions are all changing rapidly and intensely. If a company fails to monitor and respond to the changing environmental conditions then it may result in the company’s loss and failure. Shortage of resource is also one of the effects of environmental changes since the availability of resources is very serious to a company. It is usually the outcome of a shortage of supply but it can also result from the demand that rise up the prices. In these conditions, a company may not be able to get the resources it requires to function or grow (Jean, Chiou & Zou, 2013).

Each organization has an explicit environment that is exclusive to that firm’s industry and it directly affects the way it conducts day-to-day business. If an organization recognizes an environmental change as a threat then they should take appropriate actions to guard and protect the company from any type of damage. But if an organization identifies an environmental change as an opportunity then they have to plan and apply ideas for taking benefits of them to improve and for the growth of the company performance. Nowadays all the organizations face an active and evolving environment with swiftly changing rules and protocols from the government, new opponents constantly entering the market and regularly fluctuating customer preferences.

Impact of rapid environmental changes on the organization

The present discussion is about the impact of rapid environmental changes on the organization. The organization has the capacity to protect in all kind of situations. The changes may occur even naturally or man-made. Particularly the environmental changes may occur accidentally. Even we didn’t find out or we can’t expect the changes in the organization. Sometimes there may be some unexpected disasters occurs in the environment like cyclones, earthquakes, and tsunamis. These changes can cause huge loses for every firm by collapsing the company and merging the information of the business in earthquakes (Moorman, 2017).

According to the business point of view, when a disaster may occur, the organization lots the data and information provided by the client. In some conditions, the company may lose the manpower and land in such huge disasters occur. So that sometimes we can’t control and rectify these problems or issues at any cost. The management and employees will suffer when these kinds of issues will happen in the organization (Drew, 1997).

In order to rectify and reduce them, we need to follow the rules in certain conditions. To the employees, for every recovery plan there is continuity and the circumstances to the organization and here the strategic approach can play an important role in the business continuity and can help to the company in a number of different ways. Here we consider the topmost benefits of the disaster of the recovery plan in the organization. They are as cost-efficiency, increased in the employee productivity, the greater and larger of the customer retention and finally a better understanding of the scalability (Huber, 2015). However, this is not possible in the case of organizations that need periodical updates to their business elements like technology, laws, policies, trends and competitors, as planning is an ongoing process and need to adapt to the environmental changes.
