Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (ADHD)
There have been so many information and insights given out over the years concerning this disorder called Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The CDC website just so happens to post in article in (2019, Aug 26) to bring awareness to the public and people. In the CDC article you will find signs, symptoms, types, causes, diagnoses, treatments, help managing symptoms, other concerns and conditions, data and statistics, state information, and research and so much more. The purpose of this article is to bring and shed light to a mixture of people all over the world. There may be someone out there or a love one that is suffering with ADHD and probably do not know it.
The CDC article did an alright job on posting this information. When it comes down to implement the rhetorical elements which are the ethos, logos, and pathos it was really a good start. The logos point of the article is to convince the audience what is the meaning of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The meaning is a chronic condition including attention difficulty, hyperactive, and impulsiveness. The writer wants the people to know that it often begins in childhood, it can persist into adulthood. Then it contributes to all kinds of issues and problems like low self-esteem, dis-functional relationships, and difficulties in school and work such as: poor test scores, drop outs, no friends, cutting classes, kicked out or expelled, not staying on a job, quitting or always getting fired and many more (2019, Mayo Clinic, Jun 25). The pathos point there is no feelings or emotions involved in this CDC paper. If there were then it will be like anger, or sadness, or happy points in it. Pathos mean the quality in life, or work of art, that stirs up emotions of pity, sympathy, and sorrow, it can express through words, pictures, or even with gestures of the body. It is an important tool of persuasion in arguments.
The logo rhetoric part of the article is the signs, symptoms, diagnoses, is because according to the writer those are facts that are involved with ADHD. The logo means the demonstration, logic proof, real apparent, rational appeal, persuasion content of argument, and implies reasoning. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was founded in July 1, 1946 in Atlanta Georgia, by Joseph Walter Mountain that is one of the logo rhetoric because that is true facts. The CDC primary mission was to prevent malaria from spreading across the nation. What is malaria, back in (1897 Aug 20) Malaria was discovered, it is a intermittent fever caused by a protozoan parasite that invades the red blood cells that is transmitted by mosquitoes in many tropical and subtropical regions that impacted the military in the United States in Oct 27, 1992.
The author was trying to appeal to all parents, caregivers, educators, doctors, and all who come across this information and need to ask questions as well get their questions answered. It was intended to let them know about the diagnoses, signs, symptoms and all that is concerning the disorder. Maybe someone is challenged with a child, some teacher is faced with a student, a caregiver is battling with its client, a doctor must see his or her patient, that is why the CDC was founded. It gives the credibility as well as the assurance on the ADHD.
In my conclusion, all these are vital and important. Especially the CDC website the logos, pathos, and the logos. It stated facts, studies, history and evidence to show and prove the awareness about ADHD. When people come across this CDC website, they will get an introduction and maybe an appetizer but not the full course meal. This is just a steppingstone to get you in the door of the diagnoses and disorder. There maybe wise to go deeper in the research and do plenty of digging and utilize all resources pertaining to ADHD. This is the purpose and why the CDC article was brought out on the attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
