Topic: Impact of Social Media and Technology on Mental Health
I. Statement of Problem
In the current world today, many people use social media to find and connect with others. It is ironic for a technology craft to bring people closer and have the ability to make people feel more lonely and isolated. This leads to mental health issues. II. Subtopic One: Social Media and Depression
A. The use of social media often is seen to increase feelings of inadequacy, feelings of missing out, isolation, and dissatisfaction.
B. These feelings in turn negatively affect an individual’s mood and worsen depression and anxiety symptoms.
III. Subtopic Two: Social Media Cyberbullying
A. Research has shown that about 10% of teenagers have reported to have been bullied on social media by other users where they are subjected to offensive comments.
B. Social media platforms such as Twitter have been a hotspot for cyber bullying and abuse which can leave a lasting emotional scar to the victim.
IV. Subtopic Three: Social Media/Technology Addiction
A. Social media and technology has affected communication skills in all ages.
B. The addiction of social media can completely affect behaviors, moods, tolerance, and focus.
IV. Conclusion
Social media has changed the way people communicate and interact with each other. These changes have seen to affect the normal aspect of human behavior and that causes mental issues.
