Dear Neilsen:

I am writing to recommend John Blake for the Spinal Cord Student Scholarship. I have worked for the last fifteen years with UTA with the recent five years working as the dean to students with disabilities in the institution. John Blake is one the few outstanding characters have met in the engineering school in the fifteen years have been in the service. Despite the condition he suffers, the boy is hardworking, excellent in his work, visionary and innovative something I have witnessed with very few students. The boy is legible for the scholarship.

John Blake is a student in UTA admitted under the students with disabilities clause and pursuing engineering in the institution. The student being one of the few students in University of Texas Arlington having spinal cord injuries which is the basic requirement for one to qualify for the scholarship. The student is also registered under the institution’s office for students with disabilities. The documentation of the spinal cord injury (SCI) is made to ensure that the student is familiar to the accommodation services in the institution prior to the application for the scholarship. It’s evident that the student has fulfilled all the qualifications for the application of the scholarship.

Furthermore, the student has got all the requirements as required by the scholarship prior to application. John Blake has enrolled at the University of Texas Arlington for an undergraduate course in engineering. The student spends at least twelve hours in the institution has required by the scholarship. This makes him legible to the offer from Neilsen Foundation. The performance of the students is up to credit as he has a GPA of 2.8 which is above the minimum requirement for the scholarship. This makes John a potential candidate for the scholarship. As a dean to the department, I have been able to monitor the participation of the student in the campus and community life. The student has got a record of serving the community evidenced by various awards won for his participation. Furthermore, John Blake is among the students agreeing to the Academic Excellence Plan that aims at progress towards on-time graduation. The plan is one of the institution’s strategies to help the students in the campus to attain their goals and graduate on time. In promoting the plan, John Blake has been in the front line in urging the other students in the campus to adopt the plan. This has earned him recognition among the pioneers of the plan. As part of the requirement for the scholarship, participation in a report at each academic year to the Foundation by Craig H. Neilsen is required. John Blake as one of the students registered under the Office for Students with Disabilities in the campus, he has been in a position to take part in the activities under the department. The student has been participating in preparation of reports to the Craig H. Neilsen at the end of each academic year since joining.

John Blake’s character and qualifications confirms that he is legible for consideration for the scholarship. I strongly support John Blake for the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation Scholarship and am confident that he qualifies for the award.
