Example for Class
The beginning paragraph or introduction should be situated in this manner. Be sure that the font style you use is either Arial or Times New Roman. Font size should be 12 throughout your paper. Remember that an abstract or an author note is not needed for this course.
Background (Level 1 heading)
This section will provide information on what you topic is about, history of the topic, importance of the topic, and anything else that will help your reader understand what you are referring to within your paper. Keep in mind that each paragraph should be at least three sentences; longer is fine as long as the sentences are related to the same topic.
More about APA (level 2 heading)
Spacing for your paper should be double-spaced through-out your paper. There should be two spaces between each sentence. Your paragraphs should be left-aligned and not justified; this way your left margin is “clean” while the right margin in jagged. Most assignment papers will not require any more levels than a level 2 heading.
Citations and references (Level 3 heading).
The Writing Resources tab on your Student Resources page includes APA resources for reference and paper formatting; this paper is an example that you can also download and use as a reference or template, if you choose (just be sure to delete my words before submitting your work!). On the reference page, I have included several types of formatted references for you to use as templates for your own. I have also indicated in red what type of information source the reference is an example of. To format most references, the American Psychological Association (APA) states that “…a reference should contain the author name, date of publication, title of the work, and publication data,” (2019, p 183). Publication data includes the volume number, issue, and the digital object identifier (DOI) or the electronic source address: url (APA, 2019). References should also be placed into alphabetical order.
Summary (Conclusion)
At the end of your paper, be sure to include a short paragraph (at least three sentences) that summarizes the content of your paper. You should not be including any new information or citations, but rather use your own words to summarize what you have learned. Keep in mind that not all papers will use level 3 headings; I placed one so you can see the differences. I hope this example is helpful for you.
