The benefit of using this model is that it highlights the present external environment while analyzing the external forces which could affect the organization (Dockalikova & Klozikova, 2014). Holson Forest Products Ltd is among the companies in the world interested in wood pellets production. The company has evolved over time from sawmill operations to wood pellet production that has gained popularity as a renewable source of energy. The company’s CEO Lewis lays its focus on the aspect of growth and development in the industry but at the same time within its community.

Political and Legal

The political factor has various aspects which include taxation and tariffs, stability, elections, and regulations. Also, political situations affect the functionality of any company. There are many advantages that will accrue to the company if laws and regulations governing the activities of Holson Forest Products Ltd are changed but the current situation limits the profits of the company due to lack of support from the local government to encourage and incentive local consumers towards a more sustainable energy source like wood pellets. The Holson Forest Products is a huge organization led by Ted Lewis as the President and the owner. Lewis managed the organization well and has expanded over the years leading to the introduction of wood pellet manufacturing. Lewis kind of management style focuses on customer-oriented with the objective of meeting customer needs and satisfaction. Lewis is a hardworking individual since he had the capability of working as the president and CEO at the same time where he makes the major decisions and manages all wood harvesting and cutting operations (Walsh, Winsor & Lam, 2017). Since Holson’s employees worked in the organization since inception and the employees lack formal education. The organization lacked the human resource management but all the departmental managers had the responsibility of hiring their employees and Lewis was making the final decisions on issues of hiring. The organization hiring process was informal and after hiring on-job-training program is offered by collaborating with College of North Atlantic.

The compensation plan in an organization is important in determining the employee turnover like in the case of Holson where the rate of turnover is low due to fair payment based on the difficulty of the work. It is important for an organization management to ensure they are in a good relationship with employees for effective production. Holson Company CEO Lewis had good management style that involved working well with managers in different departments. The most interesting about Lewis is that he was humble and his juniors treated him as a peer and this contributed to an effective communication in the organization (Walsh, Winsor & Lam, 2017).
