HBR’s 10 Must Reads on Managing People (2011). Harvard Business Review Press. ISBN: 9781422158012.

Use this is a guide for your awareness and so you can begin to think about your approach and research. 

We will research topic areas (that you select) and incorporate the readings and learning outcomes around managing people.     A review of the literature will be completed.  We will use the subheadings which are bolded below.  If you want to use other sub headers, just let me know. 

Introduction

Introduce the topic being explored from one of the five choices- be informative.  

Issue

What is the success, managerial or leadership issue, or problem being researched?  Perhaps include who cares and why…

What article from the HBR (2011) textbook best relates to the research you are presenting in the paper (this may be a combination of several) but when describing the introduction or issues section, please be clear about the relationship to the coursework. 

Literature Review

A review of the literature must use seven (7) academic sources, and at least two (2) must be from the textbook.  You may also use supporting articles provided in the coursework from discussions.  

You may approach the work in a manner that is relevant, makes sense, provides meaning to the work and uses the textbook, and other sources.  There is no set guideline other than this section is a review of the literature that is conceptually the framework specific to your research from readings, discussions, artifacts/examples to create an understanding of leadership and motivation from a scholarly view  – not your view.  In the summary section, you can discuss your views. 

Summary – based on the research completed, what is one learning moment or discovery- an aha moment that was derived, and how can you use this new information – if at all.   Were you able to learn and apply a logical analysis through the literature to support key findings about your research topic? 

The research paper assignment should not be more than four (4) pages and that does not include the title/reference page.
