PROJECT 2: LOGO ASSIGNMENT
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this project is to demonstrate your understanding of the following course concepts:
1. X
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Your logo or brand has got to be much more than just a corporate badge or a simple recognizable, memorable mark. It needs to reflect who you are, what your business is and even how you work. The logo designer’s creativity and imagination are the integral parts in the logo design process, the client can describe what they want, and the designer has to visualize it. He or she has to create a high impact creative brand that has to not only work on screen, but also for a variety of media, like posters, signage, letterheads and even for apparel.
Your task is to design a logo for your own organization to use for a letterhead (8.5” x 11”), business cards (3.5” x 2”), a poster (Poster size = 24″ X 36″ with your logo sized at 4” x 6”), and a website (Logo sized at 1.5” x 2” on a webpage layout sized 15″ X 10″). The sizes are suggested size, which can be modified as appropriate. You may pick any type of business or organization to create the design of your logo using Adobe Illustrator (CS5 or Higher). You are required to follow the requirements below. You will be submitting one file that contains multiple (4) artboards based on the above sizes.
For further study in preparation for creating your logo designs, consider reading feedback from some of today’s design leaders on what not to do, when creating a logo!

PROJECT 1: DIAGRAM ASSIGNMENT
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this project is to demonstrate your understanding of the following course concepts:
1. x
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Basic diagrams are often the basis for designing in many of the Digital Media and Web Technology specializations. Your
task will be to create a diagram using the illustration tools including the use of typography, curves, fills, and strokes.
Create any diagram of your own. If you do not know what diagram to create you may pick one from the following list:
Web page diagram, Print layout, Design flow chart, Server configuration, City map, Metro map, flowchart, infographic
(see examples below):

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
1. Use Adobe Illustrator
2. Apply fills and strokes
3. Add Text
4. Use drawing tools from the tool panel to design your own icons to use in the diagram. Icons are simple visual
representations of things that are generally more complex. Click here for an example. Depending on what type of
diagram you are planning to create, you will need to design icons on your own to use in your diagram (as in the “thumbs
up” icon from this week’s tutorial).
5. Apply transforming objects (resize, rotate, reflect, shear, duplicate, copy/paste, etc.)
6. Save file as and submit both .ai and files

The purpose of this project is to demonstrate your understanding of the following course concepts:

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In this assignment, you will use the perspective grid and the perspective selection tool to draw objects in perspective.
You will be designing a 3D cubic box with 2 different artworks. One on the left plane and one on the right plane. You are
required to create 2 different artworks to use to snap on the left and right planes and follow the requirements below.

1. Click here to watch a short tutorial on how to build the perspective assignment’s “box”. (Raser)
2. Visual examples can be found in attached PDF here.
3. Linked here is a great Adobe tutorial on creating abstract Meshwork. A fun & informative learning tool!
As things do get a little tricky when trying to create artwork on the perspective grid itself, I’ve outlined one of
the best solutions below.
1. Create an open rectangle on the plane (side of the perspective box) you want to use. Make this box without a fill
color, but with a black 1pt stroke so you can see it.
2. Apply the rectangle to the perspective grid.
3. Place the gradient mesh behind (or “under” in the layers panel) the rectangle and select both objects at the same
time.
4. Choose Object > Envelope Distort > make with Top Object.
5. Make sure to not have any “background shapes” chosen or they will get distorted as well.
Lastly, this video gives a great step-by-step how-to for mapping your artwork or text to your perspective grid as well:

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
1. Use a recent version of Adobe Illustrator.
2. Use perspec!ve grid to create a “box” that has at least 2 planes to build artwork on.

4. Left panel artwork must be created using Envelopes Warp
