The Meanings of KSAs
KSAs are the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the tasks of a job. Knowledge is the education and information used for a job and organized sets of principles and facts applying in general domains. Skills are learned proficiencies in areas and developed capacities that facilitate learning or the more rapid acquisition of knowledge. It includes basic skills, complex problem solving skills, resource management skills, social skills, system skills, and technical skills. Abilities are inherent aptitudes of a candidate and enduring attributes of the individual that influence performance. It includes cognitive abilities, physical abilities, psychomotor abilities, and sensory abilities.

After reading the detail report for the chosen occupation, you shall select TWO important KSAs with an important score of at least 60 or higher – one item from “Knowledge” that is your strength and another item from “skills” or “abilities” that is your weakness. If no score is higher than 60, you shall choose the highest score in that category. The explanations for each part of the assignment are provided below.
Job Title: The job you select should be what you want to pursue upon your graduation or within five years of your graduation. A job title must come from the website and do not make up your own job title.

Strength Assessment under Knowledge
You need to choose one specific item with 60 or higher score under Knowledge that is your strength. Copy the importance score and definition. For example:
Definition: Knowledge: 90 Economics and Accounting – Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
The writing structure of this part should have three layers: an opening statement, body part, and concluding part.
An opening statement
Use one sentence to indicate where you obtain this knowledge you picked. For example:

Another example:

Definition: Skills: Score 75, Deductive Reasoning — the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

Deductive reasoning would be a weakness for me when pursuing the engineering manager position.
The Body Part of Assessment
An instance of this flaw is when troubleshooting a circuit board to see why voltage is not present at a certain node. Among many possibilities, I ended up changing a couple of components which were working, wasting resources and time, until I found the defective one. After making same errors a couple of times, I realized the root of the problem is my weak ability to apply general rules to solve specific problems. I haven’t take classes to learn about better \deductive reasoning and had little opportunity to practice this skill. Sometimes, I work through the whole project without identifying some problems while other times, I may identify a problem, but not being able to solve it or give a clear explanation for it.

This homework makes me realize that I need to take effective actions to address my weakness in order to pursue my stated career goal successfully.

Writing: The article above explains how IQ, reasoning, making inferences and deductive logic are related. It also recommends strategies to solve deductive reasoning problems with examples. For example, I have learned how to develop a valid argument, what are the rules of inference, and how to avoid logical fallacies. This article teaches me how to develop logical thinking and analysis in order to enhance my ability of applying general rules to a concrete problem. The suggestions from the article help me identify the cause of a problem and solve a problem by process of elimination.
Second step about practice.
As an engineer in a manufacturing company, I will look for more projects at work that gives me opportunities to apply a general rule to a specific problem. I plan to do more circuit analysis by reviewing characteristics of components and circuitry theories and applying theories to a particular situation. I would compare my results with peers and ask my peers and managers for timely feedback. I will monitor and track my progress in deductive reasoning by recording the results of each comparison to show my improvement.
