Part One
World business was significantly altered through an exploration of efforts facilitating trade amid Africa, Asia, and entire Europe as a result of American discovery.
Part Two
Columbian exchange is a term used to refer to the transfer of animals and plants between Europeans and Americans commenced after the introduction of colonization. Vegetables and the cereals which were initially unknown in the region emerged to be interracial part of their diet. The Americans were also introduced to cattle, sheep, and hogs. As these were not enough, diseases were also transmitted, resulting in devastating effects on both the societies involved (Grennes, 2017). The transmission of diseases occurred in the outbreak of measles and smallpox. The effects were felt in both involved parties. The valuable old-world crops like sugarcane facilitated the demand for labor. This resulted in the transportation of more than 12 million slaves from Africa to address the labor shortage area. This impacted the social and political status and negatively affected the economic situation of Africa.
One aspect shared by the old and new world is the exchange of commodities. For instance, maize and corns are among the staple foods in the ancient world to the modern world. Spanish brought with them sugar and to Peru and also Mexico. Europeans brought with them horses to South American states. They brought the horses to the new world, intending to enhance their hunting. The exchange aided the introduction of crops which were doing well in the new soil (Grennes, 2017). Viruses and new diseases which negatively impacted people who were present in certain regions.
Three specific native groups that were affected during the exchange are; native Americans, Africans, and Caribbean Islands. Europeans brought with them wheat, rice, and barley, which was eventually utilized by the Americans natives. Columbian exchange facilitated the slave trade, enabling the Europeans to extract the highest number of people from Africa to address the labor shortage. This made several villages run out of possible slaves. As a result of what the Spanish came with, the lives of the Caribbean’s. They manipulated the nature of the natives (Nunn & Qian, 2019).
Discovery had several impacts on the average people. For instance, the local traders in Northern parts of America could pick tobacco, travel with it to Europe, then exchange it with manufactured goods. They then take a journey to Africa and pick slaves, trading them with the products they had. The business earned a maximum profit because trade winds made the total expenditures cheaper. The triangular demanded more land to accommodate the resources. The colonies became beneficiaries of new slave trade routes (Mann, 2018).
