Part of successfully implementing a strategic plan is involving everyone in the organization in the plan. You work as an admission coordinator for an assisted living facility that just enacted its 5-year strategic plan. However, no one has communicated any of the components of the plan to any departments, including yours. Instead, management has chosen to include only senior-level management.
What do you think of this implementation approach?
Without an effective communication plan to all stakeholders, the strategic plan will fail. The objectives that senior leadership are attempting to achieve will not be met as they have not been disseminated effectively and efficiently throughout the organization.
As an admission coordinator, if components of the plan have created any changes regarding the intake procedures on individuals or our referral process, this could be a detrimental hindrance to the financial outlook of the organization if not properly communicated as we would still be functioning under the previous method(s).
Also, as the admission coordinator on the front lines completing the work, acknowledgement of the task at hand is very prevalent and unknown to senior leadership. Firsthand knowledge of what all it entails to admit a patient/consumer into the organization and the time/manpower that is involved in information that is many times overlooked when planning.
There are many additional challenges that can arise from the lack of communication such as staffing barriers, financial impact, space/growth impairment(s), etc. These are challenges that may have been reviewed and discussed at a higher level however without the discussion of the staff who complete the work on a day-in and day-out basis, staff tend to feel left out and unheard. According to Jeste and Childers, senior living facilities will be required to employee 1.2 million additional employees within the next decade in order to accommodate the growth population of elders requiring senior living care.
Do you think it will be an effective strategy? Why or why not?
Lack of appropriate communication in any organization will only lead to a down-hill spiral of failure. This approach of communication, or lack thereof, to those who will be on the front lines completing the tasks at hand sets not only them up for failure but also the health care entity. If clear and concise direction is not provided, how does senior leadership expect for the strategic plan and initiatives to prevail? I do not find this communication method to be an effective strategy for the organization.
Communication is key to understanding.
What would you do differently to ensure the successful implementation of the assisted living facility’s strategic plan?
As a leader, I would get buy-in from the employees on the strategic plan/initiatives. I would conduct strategic planning meetings with various departments/staff to gain their knowledge, feedback, and perspective on what is happening within the organization and how we can strive for excellence in order to achieve our mission, objectives, and goals.

What do you think of this implementation approach?
This plan will surely fail, because of lack of communication, it is important to communication the plan clearly to everyone that is involved in the organization. Everyone involved should know what requirements of the plan, and everyone need to know what is his or her role in that plan. The requirements of the plan should have been communicated clearly throughout your business. That way everyone understands how the plan delivers on your vision and business strategy. Remember to communicate with employees on regularly in meetings.
Do you think it will be an effective strategy? Why or why not?
This plan will not be an effective plan, it’s not a well throughout plan because it’s only involving the upper management what about the stakeholders the consumers, the vendors, this plans does not include everyone that the plan will effective.
What would you do differently to ensure the successful implementation of the assisted living facility’s strategic plan?
First have clear vision and mission of what direction the facility plans to go.
i would call meetings on a regular basic, and have follow-up meetings and discuss the plans. to discuss the plan’s.
Remember that communication goes both ways. Invite feedback from employees on the action plan and how to improve implementation.
Then involve everyone who will be effective by the planning process. The patients, the family , the stakeholders, and the vendors. Everyone that plays apart of the organization whether internally, or externally.

· What do you think of this implementation approach?
Strategic planning in a healthcare organization provides the framework to make decisions that align with the organization’s goals and creates a sense of direction. It requires the communication and engagement of all levels of staff in order to be successful. Involving only the senior-level management is not the right approach. For all parties to work towards a common goal, then decision-making should incorporate the ideas of individuals at all levels. The stakeholders’ interest and government regulations should be considered to ensure the company is working in a corporately responsible environment.
· Do you think it will be an effective strategy? Why or why not? The strategy plan is not effective at all since all employee’s have not been informed of the mission and goals of the organization. Strategic management involves formulation of strategies and implementation of the ideas. Formulation is a thoughtful process which requires executives, those in corporate management, to come up with ideas, assess the available resources and formulates an appropriate budget.
· What would you do differently to ensure the successful implementation of the assisted living facility’s strategic plan?
I organization a team of individuals that represent the various groups and everyone should be equally involved by use of methods such as surveys to determine their needs. I would communicate the vision and goals of the organization, making sure that the staff has a clear and concise understanding of what is expected of them to accomplish the desired outcome.
· Direct your comments specifically to an assisted living facility’s characteristics and how a strategic plan might be implemented in such an organization. Communication is the key to success. Involving everyone (patient’s, family members, staff and stakeholder’s) would ensure that the strategic plan is being implemented effectively.

What do you think of this implementation approach?
The approach that the assisted-living facility may be thinking of from their perspective is to let everyone know on the start date of the new implement function once senior level management has gathered their conception of matters with the new action plan. Corporate business concerns are typically their concern, and senior execs tend to make decisions based on management level training and professional expertise with the company goals. On the other hand, entry-level and mid-level employees would take the new approach as an integrity insult; seeing that they too are part of company decisions and operations; and this may pose an issue for the employees of feeling insecure on their hired position.
Do you think it will be an effective strategy? Why or why not?
I feel as an entry-level and mid-level employee that does not think this being a good idea because this frustrates the group who performs the duties acquired of company expectations, and the new strategy should recognize their help from employees by announcing innovative ideas the company is moving toward. It may seem effective for senior level management because they know the circumstances behind the 5year strategy, but putting the departments behind on information slows the progress of the organizational plan structure. Specifications must relay to all parties involved so that the measures attained from the information can receive feedback and suggestions from all involved departmental staff.

Assisted Living Facilities
The idea behind assisted living facilities is to offer a favorable environment to ensure that a person’s quality life can be maintained for as long as possible. Assisted living facilities are important in any given community; this is because they offer a safer environment to take care of people with disabilities and for adults who cannot live independently. To achieve great care of the people in the assisted facility, all departments need to collaborate and communicate effectively to achieve the desired results. This is because every department has a key role in ensuring that quality care is achieved; therefore, when implementing a new strategic plan, it is imperative to communicate effectively to all departments.
By communicating the strategic plan only to the senior-level management, other departments and staff may feel excluded from the main goal of the assisted living facility. In an organization, it is important to implement effective communication channels to ensure that everyone is included in the organization’s future plans and goals (Resnick, 2014). Enacting the 5-year strategic plan without involving all departments will make the plan ineffective. To achieve any goals, all departments and the staff must be in agreement and in-line with the company’s goals and objectives (Stavros, 2003). Therefore, without involving all departments, it will be challenging to implement the 5-year strategic plan since some departments might be against the enacted strategies.
In my opinion, before enacting the 5-year strategic plan, I would contact all departments and communicate the strategic plan to them. The leaders of the respective department will then be allowed to air their opinions regarding the strategic plan. After all, departments are in agreement; the strategic plan will be distributed to all the staff members to ensure they understand the organization’s long-term goal.

· What do you think of this implementation approach? Do you think it will be an effective strategy? Why or Why not?
I do not feel this is a very pragmatic approach, unless, they are implementing the plan in stages that needs to start with the senior-level management and once they completed their portion of the plan, they will include the others. Communication and transparency are key in an organization. If the strategy was implemented in stages the other departments should know the planning details from the beginning to the end so the employees can buy-in No one wants to be left in the dark or not knowing what part they have in the plan. Not knowing what role each person or department has in the strategy could end in disaster with the plan failing to come to fruition.

I would make sure there is full support from the executive level (Administrator, Medical Director, Director of Nursing). They must lead, give support, follow-up, and stand-by or live the results of the strategic plan or it will fail. Without the full commitment of the organization’s senior executives, do not start the strategy planning. (Heathfield, 2019) Send out communications about a meeting and those who need to be in attendance. Hold a meeting with all department heads. Make sure communications is sent out to everyone about meeting details. Have management hold a meeting with employees (Dining Coordinator, nursing staff, housekeeping staff, custodial, administrative, and volunteers) regarding the strategy and get feedback or hold a brainstorming session. After receiving the feedback from the employees hold a meeting to go over input to make sure everyone is on the same page and they know the next step of the plan. Establish clear goals and a vision for the plan. Make sure all key persons are involved with the process. Set up check points at each stage of the planning process to ask questions about the progress and any barriers. Give tasks to members to engage participation, increase involvement/interactions with others. Make sure everyone knows the vision/mission statements (post them so everyone can read them every day), values and goals are aligned with the organizations. Offer a reward/recognition measurement system for accomplishments. Offer training that everyone must take part in and be honest. Do not withhold information from the employees or this can cause trust issues causing a lack in involvement causing the project to fail. Transparency is also key. Lastly, throughout the process treat everyone with respect and create a win-win for the company, stakeholders, employees, and patients. (Heathfield, 2019)
As an admission coordinator I would be working with or aiding the patients. Overseeing the operations of the facility. Supervising employees (and events taking place in the facility. Recruit/hire new employees and the processing of their paperwork. Providing evaluations and addressing complaints and concerns. Monitoring the healthcare routines for residents and have a knowledge of laws and regulations. Possibly handle billing and records. (Learn.org, 2020)
