Universally, depression is becoming so common in people especially to the students that is why I like to choose this topic

.

The topic is ‘DEPRESSION AND STUDENTS” to let the people know about the actual reasons and evidence behind this widely spread problem of depression.

The main theme of this article is to show how anxiety and depression affect students’ academics. And also, to eliminate the misconception of people who think that depression will just go away on its own and affect the weak and lonely person. In this news article, I want to share about emotional matters as my main point because depression is the internal feeling of people, so my focus is on pathos. Mostly when students migrate from one country to another, they have to struggle a lot. Many people including their family members expect a lot from them, which leads to create much pressure from them to do well that people tend to stress too much, and this leads to depression and anxiety. Putting too much stress on the body leads to not being able to concentrate and do well in academics. Taking about ethos, my theme can be illustrated as National health institute mention “many college students who struggle with depression are not seeking help.” (2013) According to Students Against Depression (

),In order to help keep stress and anxiety levels down, it is important to be mindful of what one eats. These days, it is expensive to eat healthy, especially when students have their tuition fees, books, and monthly rent and utilities to pay for. Talking about the Legos, I can illustrate my points through statistical data. In 2011, the ADAA’s national survey found more than 62 percent of students who withdrew from college with mental health problems did so because of an anxiety disorder.

In conclusion, depression can affect anyone at any age. If a person with depression does not seek medical help, then the mental disorder might become worse and make the person commit suicide. Heather Morgan, a crisis line manager for Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services Suicide Prevention Center, said their clinics receive more than 4,500 calls, text messages and online chats a month. It is important for the depressed person to live a healthy lifestyle while undergoing treatment. This includes avoiding drugs and alcohol, which makes depression worse. Also, eat well-balance meals, get regular exercise and sleep and even seek supportive relationships. When an individual is more aware and can identify why they feel and think a certain way, they develop better coping skills to cope with difficult situations.
