Follow the steps below to complete the assignment:

2. For this paper you must include a response to all of the following:
3. Defining Identity/Cultural Identity:(this criterion should take approximately 1-2 paragraphs to address) 

   Begin by defining identity/cultural identity.
   This should include a personal definition which you are to compare and/or contrast to the definition provided in the textbook (Chpt 1).

4. Cultural Membership:(this criterion should take approximately 1-2 paragraphs to address) 

   Briefly discuss whether or not you believe a person can be a member of two (or more) cultures?

   Given the definition of culture in Chapter 1, is it possible to be a member of just one culture?
   How many cultures do you belong to?

5. Impact on Identity:(this criterion should take approximately 1-2 paragraphs to address) 

   Briefly discuss the possible impact multiple cultural memberships might have on individual identity and identity development. 
   You are being asked to think critically here to examine, evaluate, and apply the information you have learned about culture and identity on individual functioning.

6. Impact on Research:(this criterion should take approximately 1-2 paragraphs to address)

   How might multiple cultural memberships for individuals impact research examining people within a specific culture?
   Here students should consider the discussion on representativeness heuristic and representativeness bias in Chapter 2 and explore the discussion of representative samples and other research methods provided in chapter 3).

7. Cultural MisMatch:(this criterion should take approximately 1-2 paragraphs to address)

   Considering the questions on the Assessing Individualism vs Collectivism scale, discuss how a person with an individualistic personal cultural orientation might be affected by living in a primarily collectivist society and vice versa (i.e. collectivist personal cultural orientation in a primarily individualistic society).
   Why might this mismatch between personal cultural identity and the societal culture at large be problematic for the individual?

8. Textbook/Research Connection:(should be used throughout response to support, define, and explain concepts)

   Clearly identify and link concepts/ideas or theory presented in Chapter 1, 2, 3  to support your response to the questions above.
   Additional Paper Requirements:

   APA style in-text citation and reference is required. Students may not use websites, of any kind, as a primary source in their responses. Submissions which do not contain both APA style in-text citation and reference and/or which use websites of any kind as a primary source may receive a zero.
   Papers formatting must be:
   A minimum of 2 FULL pages, single-spaced, 12-point New Times Roman font or similar. Do not exceed 3 pages. Reference citations included on a separate page do not count towards writing minimum or maximum.
   Do not use any titles, title pages, or headings, course name or date, etc. If you include your name or PID it should be included in the “header” of the document and not part of the main content.
   Do not use bullet points, outlines, or numbering in your response.  Essay/paragraph format is required.
   APA style in-text citation and reference is required.
