A matter was tabled in Virginia state in the year 1999 where Stefan Jaynes and others sued Newport schools, a public school. The case was recorded under number 4:99 cv 146

Jayne was at two years when she was diagnosed with a condition known as autism a parents sort help and intervention immediately via their local school district. Still, the parents to Stefan faced many hurdles and barriers which crippled their effort. There was the formation of an IRP without the parents’ consent, and the local school did not manage to implement the IRP some several weeks. Stefan was under some school program for 12 hours a week in a typical preschool program, and the outcome was that Stefan regressed since the school was not designed for his challenges .the parents acted by withdrawing and placed the child LOVAA schedule in which there was a one on one contact with a tutor for some hours in daily. The parents discovered that they had a genuine case to file.

In the middle of 1999, the officer tasked with the case felt that the parents deserved a refund of the cost they incurred during their need to educate their child legally. The parents were determined to seek help and we’re committed to providing education to their child .it was discovered that the family had met the cost of therapy and other legal services all revolving the need to educate Stefan for approximately five years between 1993 and 1998, and the amount was summed up to $117979.78.Stefan was considered to have suffered the damages by the act or omission from the district school of Newport .it was also discovered. Still, the officer that he suffered losing an opportunity to be educated due to procedural violations, and the parents suffered infringement by not being involved ETP process involving their son.

My opinion is that the parents did the right thing despite being a costly exercise to strive for their child’s education. They did the right thing to transfer their child because initially, the program which was introduced was not working and needed a better intervention by increasing contact hours of the child and the tutor. Seeking court intervention, I see as the best option to serve as the case scenario to be followed by parents with children with autism. Stefan’s parents were right not to hide their child; hence he did not suffer stigma. In my opinion, they are the best parents who have dealt with autism to their child at the level best and are a good example.
