This assignment asks you to write a
paper that defines all eight
“Consumer Reputations and make
explicit connections to law and
economic concerns. Further, you
are to define the Social Science
Perspectives and apply them to two
assigned examples and one student-
choice example.

B. CONSUMER REPUTATIONS (FOOD) (Short paragraph for each) (1-2 pages)
1. Briefly list and define all eight Consumer Reputations
2. Include a brief discussion of possible connections with

C. SOCIAL SCIENCE PERSPECTIVES (3-4 PAGES)
1. Defining the four SSPs
a) Briefly list and define all four “Social Science Perspectives” (SSPs)
b) Justify how the study of any event/issue can be more complete through examination with
consideration of all the SSPs.
2. Apply the four SSPs (1-2 paragraphs for each event)
Briefly define then apply all four of the SSPs to the following food events:
a) The Blue Bell Ice Cream recall (Listeria) of 2016
Geographical, Economic, Political/Legal, Social
b) The international ban on some Japanese seafood after 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster

c) Choose a third food-related event (such as “The Great Sriracha Shortage of Early 2014”,
