What were this person’s strengths?

David did a great job timing the activities and keeping calm under pressure when we started getting crunched for time. Other members of the team stepped up so that he felt supported and so that we could complete the task at hand. This allowed him to not take on too much as the leader.

What things about their leadership could be improved?

David could have taken a few minutes to read through the entire document so that we could be clear on the instructions. This may have prevented us from realizing towards the ends that we did the assignment wrong. Despite doing this, we took it in stride and deemed it creativity.

You were really great at remaining calm amidst all the chaos of this crazy project. You really tried to keep us on time and on task.

What things about their leadership could be improved?

I think it is important to read through and understand the instructions thoroughly, even if you have to take just a brief moment to yourself to read them entirely – or the instructions could have been shared to all so that we could catch the crucial details that got missed.

I put a 6 on the reinforcement question above because you chose not to share the extra incentive message with us (which I personally agree with, it would have just wasted the precious time we needed to get everything together), but I also do not remember you giving other forms of positive or negative reinforcement throughout the process.

What were this person’s strengths?

David was open and encouraging of different people’s ideas. He kept the group focused and consistently reminded us of the time we had left so we were able to complete the assignment on time. He gave positive reinforcement to people’s ideas.

What things about their leadership could be improved?

It would have been helpful if David had read the list of choices we had to work from. We were able to be creative with our ideas which was great, but it also led to some confusion. He also did not assign roles until the idea-making and the engineering discussion had already been completed, so it felt like people did not have the chance to fulfill the roles they were ultimately assigned to. However, I do think it was beneficial for us to work as a group.

What were this person’s strengths?

I believe that David did a great job at trying to keep the discussion and the group’s focus on a set path. I also liked the positive feedback that was given and the effort to make sure that people felt heard.

What things about their leadership could be improved?

Unfortunately, our group seemed pretty unorganized and unsure about what the true goal of the activity was. This was also the same theme when looking at the roles of each individual member of the group during the activity. It felt a bit like a free-for-all at times and I think this correlate to our group leader being unsure of what was required of the team. It is a difficult task to get directions at the same time that you have to give those directions to a team, but it seemed like every other group was able to achieve the final goal except for ours. I’m not sure that I have specific advice on how to improve because honestly, I probably would have been the exact same way if I was the group leader during this session.

What were this person’s strengths?

I think you do a great job of having a very pleasant and balanced demeanor and that puts people at ease. You appear calm during everything, which is good. You don’t get rattled. You make everyone feel comfortable and do a good job giving positive reinforcement.

What things about their leadership could be improved?

I ran into this problem a bit last week also. I would recommend taking 1-2-3 minutes to make sure to read the instructions completely. Make sure that you have a full grasp of the big picture and all of the steps and instructions, so that things can be organized from the beginning. I think that sets the foundation, and from there that will help with a lot of the other parts of leading that were scored above. I would say organization and decision making are important up front at the beginning of meetings and activities, so that everyone is on the same page and can attach the problem.

What were this person’s strengths?

David did a great job at communicating and starting the meeting being the leader. The discussions that he led us in were very interesting and informative and helped us get on the right track with what we were supposed to accomplish. Just wish we had more time.

What things about their leadership could be improved?

David could have taken a little bit more time to read through the entire task before sharing what we needed to do. It would have run smoother if we had screen share available at the beginning. It was difficult for the leader to explain this entire task without being able to show what we needed to be able to do.

Facilitated discussion well by letting people know what the roles consisted of and that we needed to think of household items. Did well with brainstorming and letting us know how much time we had left which kept the project moving efficiently.

What things about their leadership could be improved?

I would recommend reading the entire document through before giving the directions to the team. If you ask the team to give you a minute or 2 to read the document in its entirety, it will help you plan out what the game-plan should be. Additionally, just assigning roles to people might be more beneficial time-wise then having people pick what they want to do. Other than that great job,
