What’s in it for the CEO? Essay

If there is anyone or any group of people in the company that should be concerned with the effects and developments of technology, and whether the organization should adapt or not, it is the decision makers. CEOs and top-level executives should devote a time to discuss how their organization can benefit from modern technology, which forms should be incorporated, and how much the company should be willing to spend. Doing so can take considerable time and effort in planning, and considerable sums for investing, so decision makers should also be sensitive about the pros and cons of creating a technologically driven workplace.

There are benefits to consider, and issues to plan for and manage. Decision makers will find it appealing to subscribe to technology because it is how the business world is now going. Almost every growing company uses technology, and so organizations should keep up and slowly embrace the idea. The point of contention, though, would be the additional capital it will require to invest in such an undertaking.

However, many decision makers bite on the investment because, as many feasibility studies by many companies have shown and proven, investing on technology can save more money on the long run.

It is also worthwhile for key people in organizations to consider the advantages that technology can bring to their company. For one, technology can aid a big consideration among many companies today: getting to the consumers. Technology enables companies to know what the consumers want and need, and even please them on the process. This allows companies to show clients that they are valued. In the long run, companies who do so keep the customers. Apart from the customers, the employees of a company who engages in innovative technology also enjoy several benefits.

Many companies now offer telecommuting options for their employees, thanks to the connectivity that technology has enabled. Working with teams has now also been easier than ever before. More importantly, experts say that technology brings about an attitude change among employees, who become self-starters and independent workers. Considering all of these will most likely sell the technology concept to a company’s decision maker, but it should also be noted that there are issues to consider when starting a technology shift in a company.

This is most especially helpful when many key personnel in the company are not very versed with modern technology. Training and proper introduction to all employees of the changes that will occur after the initiation of technological equipment in the company will be necessary. Impersonal and errors in communication is a chief issue which can be resolved by proper communication and decorum trainings. Utilization guidelines and trainings can also avoid expensive damages and repairs or any possible privacy issues, and reinforce proper maintenance of equipment among employees.

When all of these have been considered, the CEO is now faced with a decision to make, and a big consideration would be the fact that adapting technology for the company will forever change it. The organization, the employees, the top-level executives, and the way they work will forever be altered. Considering this, it is essential that preparations as discussed above be made as all of these will affect the way in which work will be made and delivered. Conclusion Technology changes the character of organizations.

This is evident in the changes that occurred in the business world ever since technology has touched it. Business theories, books, teachings, and norms were transformed. The way industries produce, and the way companies relate and communicate has also revolutionized. Moreover, drastic character changes also occur in organizations once they implement the advent of technology. Communication, business processes, and customer relations likewise changed. As fast as technology was changing, so was the business world.

In fact, changes were happening so fast that many companies find it hard to keep up. Most of these companies face common issues such as problems with communication, re-training, maintenance, privacy, and funding. Yet there are solutions to any of the problems brought about by these fast technological turnovers. Proper planning and timely and efficient intercession are essential for these solutions to be carried out. Business technology takes lots of courage to implement. The changes that can occur will affect the company forever, and can spell a make or break situation for it.

Regardless if the company is investing in a single machine or investing in a whole company-wide technological structure, the organization should be well prepared in welcoming and working with the changes that will occur. This will ensure that solutions to any problem that may likely arise were pre-meditated. In the end, technology changes organizations but it is advantageous for businesses. It is up to the heads of organizations how the character changes that it entails be a positive one for the benefit of the company, its employees, and its customers.
